Matt Barrett joined KU Recreational Services in January 2016 and serves as the Coordinator of Structured Sports, where he is in charge of working with intramural and club sports.
Barrett graduated from Lock Haven University in 2013 with his bachelor’s in Sport Administration. He continued his studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University and obtained his master’s in Sport Administration in 2015.
In the summer of 2012, Barrett worked with Ripken Baseball in Aberdeen, Maryland as the baseball operations intern. While there, he handled most of the facility’s behind-the-scene work and served as a tournament official as well as an instructor.
During the spring semester of 2013, Barrett worked as an Athletic Department intern at the Pennsylvania State University, Wilkes-Barre campus. His main duty was to help run the intramural sports program, along with assisting in game operations for the baseball team as well as the men’s and women’s basketball teams. Barrett also marketed and promoted the athletic department through social media and community involvement.
While at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Barrett was the Graduate Assistant of Intramural Sports for two years. At FDU, he was in charge of running the daily operations of the recreation program which included scheduling games, hiring and supervising student workers, and promoting the intramural program.
Barrett is originally from Hazleton, Pennsylvania and currently resides in Kutztown.
